Visit to Glory
Friday, 17 April 2009 00:00
The week after easter a visit to the CBC congregation Glory was made. This congregation is located in the middle of the bush, about an hour by car from Ndola.
After driving the last part through bushes and high grass we parked the car by a small house. From there we started walking towards the church where the congregation had gathered to receive us. On the way we passed solely a few houses, so we wondered if there really were any people there at all.
But even on distance from church we heard the singing which raised the closer we got, and at our arrival we were met by about 50
members waiting for us with great joy. The worship and dancing went on, and it was followed by presentation of the congregation leadership and then teaching and prayer by visiting Jimmy who is one of the head leaders of CBC.
The meeting ended with the members telling about current needs. For the moment there was a need for good roof to the church, help with digging a new water hole, and a football for the youth. In addition to what was mentioned here, there is a huge need for a local school and some kind of smaller clinic. Among the about one hundred members there are only five (!) people who are able to read.
Afterwards everyone gathered outside of the small church building while the singing and dancing continued, and we got singing escort to prepared dinner for us guests in the house of the pastor. Deeply touched we finally left the small bush congregation Glory, with great impact on our hearts.

2009-05-21 - New roof and a football have now been given to the congregation.

Bible Verse

If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.
(1 John 3:17-18)
